Germantown is a safe, family friendly city, which borders Memphis to the east.  A community of upscale residential neighborhoods, Germantown has natural and designed beauty, and provides exceptional leisure, cultural and recreational opportunities. With a population of 41,000, Germantown has the lowest crime rate for any city its size in the state of Tennessee.  Average emergency response times for city fire and police are at five minutes.  Tennessee offers a low cost of living and does not have a state income tax, making Germantown a great place to work and live.
