Established in 1926, Winter Haven Hospital is a 468-bed facility. Winter Haven Women's Hospital is a 61 bed, women's hospital.  It is one of three in the state.  Winter Haven and Winter Haven Women's Hospital are a part of BayCare Health System , a 15 not-for-profit hospital system. More than 350 board-certified and board-eligible physicians comprise the medical staff, covering specialties such as stroke, open heart, obstetrics and gynecology, and emergency services. In addition, the hospital is recognized as a Magnet Nursing Center of Excellence, a prestigious designation held by less than five percent of hospitals nationwide.

Winter Haven is a community of more than 80,000 people bordering Lakeland to the east.  The Lakeland-Winter Haven Florida Metropolitan area has a total estimated population of 584,383 and is located in Central Florida between Tampa and Orlando.  Winter Haven features gentle rolling hills, 55+ fresh-water lakes and the home of LEGOLAND Florida, a state of the art, world class theme park.  Nearby, visitors enjoy historic Bok Tower Gardens and the Fantasy of Flight Air Museum.  Disney World, Busch Gardens, SeaWorld and Universal Studios are all within an hour's drive.
