Oxford Clinic for Women is dedicated to providing
high-quality, patient-focused obstetrical and gynecological care in a friendly environment.

Our providers have been serving the health and wellness of women in Lafayette County and across North Mississippi since the clinic was founded by Dr. John Purves McLaurin in 1950.

We care for women at all stages of life, from their first visit as a teenager, through motherhood, menopause, and beyond. Our compassionate and knowledgeable medical professionals and staff manage high-risk pregnancy and help with contraceptive education and counseling, bone health, and laparoscopic and robotic procedures.

“I always say I am Mississippi born raised and educated. After completing my medical school and residency in Jackson, MS and it came time to choose where to practice, Oxford Clinic for Women felt like home—literally and professionally. My husband and I are starting out in our careers and growing our young family. Joining a group where I felt like I could be present for both my family and career was important.  

Dr. Henderson and Dr. Cole welcomed me to the group immediately. I was a colleague that they genuinely wanted to succeed in the practice. Dr. Cole and Dr. Henderson both have children and are very active in their family life. This was important to see as I become a new mom and to see the work life balance was a priority for my group. 

Our hospital has OB hospitalist coverage for most weekends which is great. Living in a college town is great, as there is always something fun to do on the weekend-from the Grove, football games, to festivals on the Square. This schedule here allows time with my family as my husband is also a physician with a busy call schedule. 

My day to day: Clinic schedule is now 3.5 clinic days, half day OR block (and can add on to 1 full day if needed), 24-hour call 1-2 days per week. This keeps a good mix of both hospital and clinic work. I feel like a true "generalist" with a great mix of OB and GYN. With one day full of OB patients, deliveries and the next day surgeries with easy access to the new DaVinci robot.

Most of us live within 10 minutes of the hospital, so when you're on call, you're not far from home. 

We care for patients from all of north Mississippi, many from underserved areas up to 2 hours from our clinic.  The culture is hard-working but laid-back and genuinely collaborative—I can ask questions, get support, and feel like part of the team. As a clinic family we have gathered together to celebrate many marriages, birthdays, babies and retirements since I have joined and each one felt like such a special celebration. 

Oxford is a place we are excited to call home- safe, excellent schools, and one of the fastest-growing cities in Mississippi. As a lifetime Ole Miss fan, I am a little biased but go Rebels and I can't imagine practicing anywhere else.”
